Ms Fitzpatrick's 4th Class have just completed a 5 week Junior Achievement Ireland Programme 'Our World' with Yvonne O'Toole. Over the course of the 5 weeks, 4th Class engaged in many exciting topics relating to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths).
During session 1 we learned all about the circular economy while designing eco-friendly pens. In Session 2 we grouped up to design mobile apps to teach others about a topic of choice. We learned about survival skills and how to use Distance, Speed and Time to calculate answers to reach a town in a bid for survival. We became engineers in Session 4. We learned about various types of bridges and using just paper and sticky tape we designed our very own bridges. We had a lot of fun during Session 5 - we created short videos in a bid to encourage students to consider studying and working in STEAM.
Many thanks again to Yvonne who delivered these sessions both virtually and in person. As a class we have learned so much about 'Our World'.
