Minecraft for Education

Microsoft Ireland and RTÉjr announced they are joining forces to launch a new national digital skills competition. The Ireland's Future is Mine competition challenges primary school students across Ireland to use Minecraft: Education Edition to help shape Ireland's digital future. Schools will go head-to-head in the competition to make it to the Grand Finale which will take place in April 2022 on RTÉ!


Tutorials to help you use Minecraft: Education Edition can be found at the following link: www.rte.ie/learn from the 30th September. These will be released weekly for 6 weeks and guide you through projects and challenges step by step.


With the necessary skills to participate in the competition developed during the first five episodes in the sixth and final episode details of the nationwide competition will be revealed. It is during this episode on November 11th that full details of the competition will be revealed, and students will be challenged to shape Ireland’s sustainable future through the medium of Minecraft. This can be done on a laptop or Minecraft: Education Edition App can be downloaded on both Apple and Android devices.


We have registered for this competition and have 120 free Minecraft: Education Edition accounts for any families who would like to get involved. Anyone wishing to do one should email efleming@killeshinns.ie for log in details in the coming days.
